Union Station Photo Shoot

TJ and I just finished a senior session out at Union Station today. Not only did we get some great shots, but I got some fudge! Gotta love that fudge factory. =)

I LOVE sunset photos!

The past two weekends have been PERFECT for weddings and for awesome evening sunset photos! Here are a few fav's from the last couple weddings we did. Gotta love that setting sun!

We actually just shot Brandy and Grants wedding today and are trying to get their photos posted in RECORD time for us. Having the photos posted within 24 hours of the wedding. Our normal turnaround time used to be two weeks, then we got it down to 7 days... and now we're thinking of making it our goal to get them posted within 48 hours of the wedding routinely. We'll see how this goes.

Planning on ordering your custom Christmas cards from custom card websites like tinyprints.com? I can replicate most designs that are found on the internet AND more often than not the cards from me cost less and are ready faster. I did the math to see what it would cost to get the cards from tinyprints vs me. A 5x5 square set of 24 cards (like the design above) would cost $44.95 from tiny prints. (It may seem like less at first, but after shipping, this is the total.) Get the same pack of 24 cards from me and pay only $35. Extra benefits to ordring your cards from me include:
1) Bonus images on the back. Most of those websites only give you a single side. I can throw a bonus image or two on the back at no extra charge.
2) Tweeking. If you find a general pattern or style that you like but perhaps want more photos on the card or want to include additional text, I can do that for you. I'll style your card so it looks similar to their design but make it better fit the images you want to include. My cards are completely custom so you can make it how you want. Not sure what I can do? Just ask!
3) Did I mention the cards are often cheaper when orderd from me?

Get your Prints and Image Files Too!

After giving it quite a bit of thought, I've decided to adjust my packages a little bit so that two of the discount single-pose packages will now include the full resolution image file and the copyright release.

These days everybody wants the image files. I, of all photographers, am a big supporter of giving clients the images and rights. I've structured my business completely the opposite of most photographers. I charge for the sitting, but give the CD and copyrights with all my sessions. However, I hesitated to give them out with the seasonal specials because I knew I'd be shooting myself in the foot(no pun intended). Since I wasn't charging for the sitting, I had to make my money on the print sales. But nobody would buy prints from me if they've got the CD and can get them printed cheaper at walmart. So, I finally found a solution.

You'll find that I've adjusted my Christmas Special packages so that two of the three packages now include both the prints AND the image file. So when you purchase Package B or C, not only will you get the prints included in that package, but I'll email you that full resolution file and the copyrights to go with it. It's a Win-Win. You get your files, and I still get a paycheck.

Children's Christmas Portrait Special
November 20th and 21st

Join us November 20th and 21st for FREE Christmas sessions of the kiddos. Aside from the classic black or white backgrounds with Christmas props, we'll be setting up a Christmas tree scene complete with presents and a fireplace background. I just ordered the background for this and it's adorable!

The special will be hosted as a holiday party/play date. We'll be opening up our home for this event, hosting a holiday party upstairs (in our home) and doing complimentary photo shoots downstairs (in the studio). While waiting for their turn to be photographed, the kids can play games and enjoy all the free the snacks and holiday festivities.

Sitting Length: These are short mini sessions. If you wish for more time with the photographer or want a complete family session, please book your own session on a different day. The sessions during this special will be short and easy for the kids. The goal is to get one or two good shots of each child, not to create a full porfolio of images.

Photographer: On Friday Larissa will be shooting all the sessions herself. On Saturday, her associate photographer Devin, will be doing most of the sessions with Larissa shooting only a little early that morning.

Props: We'll have wrapped presents, giant chrismas lights, bows, santa hats, and more. If you wish to have additional props in your images, feel free to bring them along.

Outfits: Here are my thoughts on outfits. Obviously, there's the classic Christmas formal dress or sweater vest suit. Another idea would be to have them wearing footed PJ's. These are adorable on the Christmas scene background...really capturing the night before Christmas feel. Or you can go with just simple white turtle-neck and jeans. This is the best with the contemporary props on the white backdrop or wearing a santa hat. Very cute. Everyone will get to wear at least one outfit. Additional outfits will depend on how busy we are. If there are a lot of people waiting for a turn, you may not get the second outfit so have them wearing your favorite option first.

Arrival/Parking: Due to limited parking in our lot, many of you will have to park on the street. Because it is a no parking zone, you'll want to be sure you're pulled over all the way in the grass. This is easy to accomplish as we've got space on both sides of the street to do so. We live accross from Belleville East High school and there's pleanty of space between the road and their fence to pull all the way over in the grass. You can also pull over in our yard or drive down to the driveway and park in the lot where we can hold a maximum of 5 cars. Keep in mind, the party will be upstairs. You'll want to enter our front door, not the regular studio entrance.

Fall Children's Portrait Special

This year we’re doing something VERY different with our fall portrait special. We’re sponsoring a local non-profit organization and will be hosting three fall photo shoot play dates. There will be NO SESSION FEE and a percentage of all the photos sold will go to ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network), a non-profit organization dedicated to educating women to know how they can avoid a c-section and helping women recover from traumatic births.

Join us Friday and Saturday, October 23rd and 24th for one of our play dates. While not being photographed, your kids can roast marshmallows, play in the leaves, create some fall themed art, or enjoy healthy fall snacks all for free. Individual photo shoots will be done throughout the play date so each child gets a turn having their pictures taken.

The session is free, but does not include any prints. Your photos will be posted online in a password protected gallery so you can log on at home to view and order your photos. You may order prints “a la carte” off our website or opt to order some of our discount packages that will be available for a short time only.

Try to arrive at least one hour before the end of the play date to allow enough time for us to get your child photographed. Sessions will be done first come first served.

Rain: Unless it is actually raining during the time of the play date, we will not cancel! If, however, it is raining at the time of the playdate, clients will be given the option to do their photo shoot indoors (where I will move all the fall props) for indoor photo shoots. Clients who do not want to do the photos indoors may opt to accept a $50 gift card toward a future session booking instead. Due to an overwhelminly busy schedule, we cannot schedule a rain date for the event.

Address: By the way, our address is 161 Orchard Drive, Belleville, Illinois 62221. For those of you familiar with the area, it's right accross the street from Belleville East High School. The schools baseball diamond is a foul balls distance from our front door. =)

Parking: We have enough space for only 4 cars to park in our driveway at once. For this reason, we ask that if you don't mind a short walk, park up the street instead. The street is technically a no parking zone, however as long as you pull over so all your tires are completely in the grass, then you're ok. Since we're across from the school grounds, there's just enough grass between the road and the school fence to park on that side of the street.

The collages I design typically include somewhere between 3 and 6 images with prices starting at $15. To have your own collage made, simply request that Larissa put together some designs using images you choose from your session. Larissa will personally put together a few different designs for you to choose from. If you don't like any of the designs, you don't have to order.
